Runaway stars (or racing stars) are stars that are accelerated up to tremendous speeds, by processes not yet fully understood. They can be observed racing through our galaxy, sometimes escaping the entirety of its gravitational pull and flying off into intergalactic space.
The track is built up in several segments, evoking a cataclysmic event leading to the creation of a runaway star and its subsequent propulsion into intergalactic space. Set on an exoplanet orbiting a distant star, the track starts out with a familiar summer night soundscape, when suddenly the entire solar system gets knocked out of its galactic orbit. As the star races towards the edge of the galaxy, the night sky seen from the planet’s surface slowly gets darker as distances to neighbouring stars grow continuously. The track aims to capture the enormous raw powers at play in such cataclysmic events. It also tries to mirror a feeling of solitude, helplessness and isolation of a hypothetical civilisation present on an exoplanet orbiting such a star as it leaves towards intergalactic space.
